Located on the Columbia River in Southeast Washington, the Tri-Cities area (including the cities of Kennewick, Richland, and Pasco) is centrally located to the major markets of the Pacific Northwest and the world.
The region offers the 29th fastest growing metropolitan area in the nation and ranks among the Top 10 high technology communities in the nation by the Milken Institute.
The Tri-Cities area has approximately 200 sunny days per year. With a pleasant desert climate typified by warm summers and moderate winter temperatures, the Tri-Cities has a markedly different weather pattern than those on the west side of the Cascade Mountains and more moderate seasons than many other inland locations.
Although climatically a desert, the Tri-Cities area has an abundance of water. The Columbia, Yakima and Snake Rivers are central to the area's agricultural production and are an important component to the variety of recreational activities available in the region.
Washington State grows 13 of the highest yielding crops in the United States, with 10 of those being grown in the Columbia Basin. Fruit production is especially important in the Tri-Cities.
